The Beacon Benefice is a group of six Cotswold parishes in the Gloucester Diocese. There is a wide variety of worship in our churches from the traditional to modern, informal services. There is an active network of house groups as well as youth and children's work, and support for the elderly.

Strategic Youth Minister Sports Specialist

An exciting opportunity exists to be involved in leading and developing Sports Ministry amongst young people in rural Gloucestershire whilst studying part-time for an MA in Sport and Christian Outreach.

PSALMS is an ecumenical charity, set up in 2005 in the Stroud area to provide both youth and children’s ministry. PSALMS current employs both a ‘Christians in Sport’ Associate (for youth) and a Scripture Union Associate Children’s worker. We are seeking a further Youth Minister to build strategically on the exciting platform and to develop the Sports Outreach work in partnership with the Diocesan Youth Office and the University of Gloucestershire.

To ensure effective and appropriate professional development, a key requirement for the successful candidate is to register on and aim to complete the MA Sport and Christian Outreach programme at the University of Gloucestershire. An excellent salary package will reflect the importance of this role.

The successful applicant to this position will have a passion for evangelism and discipleship among young people through sport and the Bible. In addition to this, they will have the expertise and necessary ability to lead strategically through volunteers and paid youth workers.

Other information: The salary for this role will be based on JNC levels 14 to 17, depending on professional qualifications and proven expertise. The expected start date will be in September 2008.
